In the late 1800s the logging railroads began building locomotive sheds where maintenance could be performed without getting wet! They had doors that opened and closed. A servo was added to this RS Laser kit so that the doors could open and shut with a DCC command.

An AniMove DCC Decoder is wired to a micro servo (ROB-09065 ROHS) from SparkFun to animate the loco shed doors. The attachment (or “horn”) was used that had arms that matched the back 'n forth travel desired between the door closed and door open. A brass wire (~.035" dia) was used between the servo horn and homemade hinges on the doors. See picture below taken of the shed interior
The 3 wires were all connected to the AniMove decoder: the black wire was connected to Ground, the white to +5Volts and the red wire goes to the servo output (see manual). Walthers Goo was used to mount the servo to the loco shed.
